It is impossible for Hungary to break away from Russian energies
Budapest, 04.06.2026
Hungary cannot completely give up energy sources from Russia, according to Prime Minister Péter Magyar. “We will try to diversify supplies, but completely breaking away from Russian energy sources is impossible,” he said in an interview with the French daily Le Monde on Thursday. TASR reports this based on a report by the TASS agency. The Hungarian prime minister also expressed his belief that after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, “no one will be interested in a new Cold War, not even in the energy sphere.” Magyar had earlier said in an interview with the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that Hungary remains dependent on Russian oil supplies and cannot afford to sacrifice the competitiveness of its companies. odkaz na stránku
