A new Gemerka production line was launched, the modernization cost 9 million
Bratislava, 05.06.2026
Budiš company officially launched a new production line for the Gemerka brand at its Tornala plant on Thursday. The company invested nine million euros in the company in the Revúca district, and the new line will increase production capacity by more than 40 percent. Company representatives announced this at a press briefing on Thursday. The soft drink manufacturer has invested in new technologies, filtration and production processes at its Tornala plant. The main part of the modernization is a new filling line, which is supposed to bring higher production capacity and more precise automated quality control at every step of production. "The new line is the most modern that the European market offers in this category today. With a capacity of 26,400 pieces per hour, which represents an increase of 42 percent compared to the previous 18,600 pieces per hour, we are ready to reliably supply both the Slovak and Czech markets, where Gemerka has long been among the leaders," stated the director of the Budiš production plants Jozef Kamas. The company invested nine million euros in the modernization of the Tornal plant. In addition to the new line, the company underwent a comprehensive renovation, a new compressor plant was built, and the syrup warehouse was also renovated. The company is also expanding the brand's portfolio and introducing a new line of functional waters without added sugar and sweeteners. The modernization of the Tornal production plant also included the construction of a flood fence, which increases the plant's resistance to natural risks. “The plant is built at the spring and the spring is in the floodplain of the Slaná River. We have had floods here about twice in the last 15 years, so we decided to participate in flood prevention measures in order to protect the investment and be able to produce continuously,” said CEO Budiš Andrej Hronský. The modernization of the Tornal plant is also welcomed by the local and regional government. The investment in the plant is expected to bring in particular the development of indirect jobs, for example in the field of logistics. “Our district is always among the first in unemployment, the city itself has an unemployment rate of almost 14 percent. We in Gemer value every single job,” stated Tornal Mayor Erika Győrfiová. odkaz na stránku
