| Almost all Swiss exports to the Chinese market will be exempt from tariffs |
| Bern, 21.08.2026 |
 |
| Switzerland has significantly expanded its trade agreement with China, and up to 99.8% of Swiss exports will enter its market duty-free. The Swiss Ministry of Economy announced this on Thursday after talks with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wen-chao in Bern. TASR reports this based on a report by the DPA agency.
Under the previous free trade agreement between the two countries from 2014, only half of Swiss exports entered China duty-free, while almost all Chinese exports to Switzerland were already duty-free.
The Swiss Ministry of Economy said that the new agreement will also facilitate access to the Chinese market for Swiss investors. The ministry added that the free trade agreement now also includes trade in services and digital trade.
China is Switzerland's third largest trading partner after the European Union and the United States.
