| Japan's Nippon Steel still plans to take over U. S. Steel for $15 billion (€14.30 billion). It is confident that the acquisition will be completed by the end of the year despite strong opposition from the United States, including from President-elect Donald Trump, Nippon Steel Vice President Takahiro Mori said. "We will not give up," Mori said this week after returning from his eighth visit to the United States since the takeover deal was announced a year ago.
Nippon Steel, the world's fourth-largest steelmaker, wants to increase its global steel production capacity to 85 million metric tons of steel a year from the current 65 million tons with the help of U.
