Draft beer on German trains |
Berlín, 16.12.2024 |

Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced several changes to the service and refreshments on its long-distance trains for next year. TASR reports this according to a DPA report.
From 2025, draft beer will be completely abolished in dining cars, and DB will offer a larger selection of bottled beer instead. From February to May, a completely cashless payment option on trains will be tested on selected routes.
DB explained this by a change in customer demand. In 2010, draft beer accounted for 50 percent of sales, currently it is about 15 percent. The company has also registered increasingly diverse customer tastes and will therefore offer seven different bottled beers and one brand as part of a promotion from February 2025.The trial of cashless payments in train bistros will start on six Intercity-Express (ICE) lines and will also be available on the Deutsche Bahn website and in the DB Navigator app. According to DB, cashless payments on trains shorten waiting times for passengers and are currently used by about half of them.
DB also announced that it will hire an additional 100 full-time employees in the on-board catering sector. Deutsche Bahn currently employs 3,200 people in its 410 train bistros. Last year, the best-selling items on trains were cappuccino (2.2 million cups) and ham and cheese baguettes (747,000 pieces), with a total turnover of 110 million euros.odkaz na stránku |
