Ukraine has forgotten about the aid that Slovakia provided to it |

The decision to stop gas supplies from Ukraine is a fundamental step that not only betrays the trust that has been so far, but also raises questions about the fairness and reliability of Ukraine's approach to mutual relations. This was stated on Thursday by the chairman of the coalition party Hlas-SD, Matúš Šutaj Eštok. According to him, when stopping gas supplies, Ukraine forgot about the help that Slovakia provided to it.
Eštok recalled that since the beginning of the conflict, Slovakia has provided Ukraine with significant military, political and humanitarian assistance, and at the same time has given a helping hand to all people fleeing the war. "The Slovak Republic will lose hundreds of millions of euros based on President Zelensky's step - both in the purchase of gas from another supplier and in lost transit fees to other countries," Eštok said.
However, according to him, stopping gas supplies is not only an economic problem for Slovakia. This is a signal that can undermine stability and cooperation across Europe. "It is therefore necessary to resume dialogue and to seek solutions and compromises, which will ensure the stability of energy supplies in the coming years," he added.
The head of Hlas-SD emphasized that although Slovakia could expect at least partial solidarity from Ukraine and President Zelensky in gas supplies in return for its help, the government did not underestimate the situation and prepared in advance for the cessation of supplies. Thus, the country has sufficient gas reserves for this year.
The chairman of the opposition SaS party, Branislav Gröhling, reacted to Eštok's statement, but also to the video published on social media by Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD). "Ukraine does not want to finance a war against itself, so it will stop transporting Russian gas. We may not like it, but it's a fact. The whole of Europe has known this for over a year and everyone has prepared for it. Except for Slovakia," he said. "Today, Eštok, as the leader of the Voice, openly joined the side of Putin, Moscow and Smer, which spreads pro-Russian propaganda against Ukraine," Gröhling added.
