EU agri-food trade breaks record in October 2024
Bratislava, 25.01.2025
In October 2024, agri-food trade in the European Union (EU) reached a record level, with exports amounting to 21.7 billion euros and imports to 16.2 billion euros. The European Commission announced this on Friday in its latest monthly report on agri-food trade, TASR correspondent reports. Exports increased by 10% month-on-month and imports by 19%. Cumulative data for January to October 2024 show a six percent increase in imports and a three percent increase in exports. EU agri-food exports reached a record €21.7 billion in October 2024, up 10% compared to the previous month and 8% compared to October 2023. The growth was driven by increased export volumes and persistently high prices since 2022. Cumulative exports for the year reached €197.3 billion, a three% increase compared to 2023. The UK and the US were the main destinations for EU agri-food exports between January and October 2024, worth €44.9 billion and €25.1 billion respectively. Exports to China fell by €937 million (-8%) due to reduced supplies of cereals, pork and dairy products.odkaz na stránku
