Poland launches subsidy program for the purchase of electric cars |
Varšava, 29.01.2025 |

The Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS) launched the "NaszEauto" subsidy program on Tuesday, aimed at supporting the purchase of electric cars. The program will allocate 1.6 billion zlotys (379 million euros) and the maximum amount of support will be 40,000 zlotys (9,480 euros). The support consists of a basic amount and a bonus for scrapping. TASR's correspondent reports on Tuesday's MKiS report.
According to Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta, the government wants to make it easier for Polish families to buy electric cars. "We realize that such vehicles are the future of the automotive industry. That is why we are introducing the NaszEauto program, which focuses on subsidizing the purchase of electric cars and not on taxing combustion cars," Bolesta said.
According to TVN24, the minister said that this may be the last such project to support electric cars. "The whole of Europe is moving away from subsidies and we will do the same," the minister said.
The call for applications will start on February 3, and the subsidies will also be able to finance leasing and long-term rental of electric cars. The money for the project is allocated from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Poland. The Recovery and Resilience Mechanism is an EU program aimed at financially supporting projects in response to the challenges faced by countries during the Covid pandemic.
The support will apply to brand new electric cars with a range of up to 6,000 kilometers. The price of such an electric car cannot exceed PLN 225,000 (EUR 53,326) and the program also includes demonstration vehicles.
According to a study by the Polish Association for New Mobility, in 2024, approximately three times more Poles were interested in an electric car than in 2020. The study showed that approximately 24% of Poles surveyed want to buy an electric car. In 2020, only 7% of Polish residents surveyed had the same interest. The biggest obstacle to investment in electric cars remains price. However, 74% of the total number of Poles surveyed are willing to choose an electric car if its price is no more than PLN 10,000 (EUR 2,339) higher than the petrol version.
