| Battery systems should be used where necessary |

| Battery systems should be used where necessary and effectively and in such a way that the final price of electricity for the consumer does not increase. This was stated by Jozef Holjenčík, Chairman of the Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (ÚRSO), at a meeting with the Slovak Battery Alliance on Monday (10 February).
According to the Authority's spokesperson, Radoslav Igaz, Holjenčík appeared at the event as an expert guest and discussed with the Alliance representatives current topics affecting the battery industry in Slovakia, the new operation of the PICASSO system, new legislation, but also the perspectives and recommendations for the use of battery systems in Slovakia.
At the meeting, Holjenčík explained the basic changes and impacts of the Authority's new regulations, both in the area of price regulation and electricity market rules.
The chairman of the office also touched upon the issue of the potential for the development of battery storage facilities and the planned activities and goals of the office in the field of the development of renewable energy sources (RES). "I consider it important that it is always about optimal and not uncoordinated development of RES, which ultimately always causes problems," Holjenčík underlined.
Igaz added that the office's regulations are set up so as not to create barriers for the development of battery systems, but at the same time so that they are not disproportionately favored over other systems. According to the spokesperson, the office is promoting and will promote such an approach for producers of electricity from other sources, including renewable ones.
