| Trump confirms plans for 25% tariffs on EU |

| US President Donald Trump confirmed at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday that he plans to impose tariffs on cars and other imports from the European Union (EU) at a rate of 25%. He indicated that the tariffs for Canada and Mexico would take effect in early April. TASR reports this based on reports from AFP and Bloomberg.
Trump also criticized the "unfair trade practices" of the EU, which he said restricts car exports from the US while benefiting from open access to the US market.
"They don't accept our cars and we accept everything from them," he said, arguing that the US trade deficit with Europe justifies this step.
