509 people went bankrupt in February, 65% were men
Bratislava, 13.03.2025
In February of this year, 509 debtors went bankrupt, 330 of whom were men, which represents a 65 percent share. There were 179 women, 12 of whom had a university education, a threefold increase month-on-month. In the second month of this year, the courts canceled 701 bankruptcies that were declared in previous periods, 636 of them due to lack of assets and 65 after the final schedule of proceeds was met. This was reported by CRIF - Slovak Credit Bureau. In February, 11 men with a university education went bankrupt, making up 3.3 percent of their total number. In January 2025, this was one less. According to the company, people with primary and secondary education and of productive age are the ones who go bankrupt in the long term. The largest number of bankrupt men, 100 in total, were in their thirties, and in the case of women, 51 were in the age group of 40 to 49 years. Bankruptcies also affected seniors, when six men and eight women went bankrupt in the category from 70 to 79 years. Of the total number of personal bankruptcies, 454 were declared on the property of non-entrepreneurs and 55 on the property of entrepreneurs. "Among citizens, 184, or up to 40.53%, had terminated their trade for various periods of time before bankruptcy. We assume that some of the former entrepreneurs got into debt due to unsuccessful business activities," explained the company's chief analyst Jana Marková. 501 people chose the form of bankruptcy, which is more than 98% of the total number of debtors. The remaining eight decided on an installment plan. Homeless people made up 11.4 percent of the total number of bankruptcies declared, totaling 57. The company also recorded 12 married couples and 12 people with family ties who went bankrupt. The most personal bankruptcies, 90, were declared by residents of the Košice region. Next came the Nitra region with 87 debtors. The fewest bankruptcies were declared by people from the Prešov region, specifically 39. Three debt reliefs were also canceled due to dishonest intent and six debtors were added to the Register of Disqualifications for the same reason. Marková pointed out that a significantly lower number of personal bankruptcies was already recorded in January and this continued in February. Based on data from the Legal Aid Center of the Slovak Republic, the cause was persistent technical problems with data export in state electronic systems. "In a year-on-year comparison with February 2024, we see an almost 41 percent decrease in personal bankruptcies, which, as we expected, does not reflect the actual number of debtors who filed for personal bankruptcy in January or February," she added.odkaz na stránku
