26% of companies in Slovakia want to increase the number of employees
Bratislava, 21.03.2025
This year, 26% of companies in Slovakia plan to increase the number of employees. On the contrary, 15% of employers want to reduce their number and 50% do not plan any changes. This is according to a current survey by the Association of Employers' Unions and Associations (AZZZ) of the Slovak Republic, which was presented on the social network by its vice-president Zuzana Rumiz. "The net labor market index, which represents the percentage of employers who intend to hire, minus the percentage of employers who intend to lay off, gives us the labor market index, which is at the level of 12%. This is very positive despite the fact that this percentage decreased by two percentage points compared to the previous quarter," Rumiz specified. In terms of regions, the highest recruitment plans are in western Slovakia, also due to the larger number of industrial enterprises or logistics companies. However, in Bratislava, a larger percentage of employers plan to reduce the number of their employees. According to Rumiz, positive hiring plans at the level of 14% have been visible for several quarters in the east of the country. The reason may also be new investments or planned expansions of existing companies. Companies want to hire the most employees this year in communication services, with every third company planning to increase the number of people in this area. Four percent of the total number of communication services will continue to reduce the number of their employees. "Transport, logistics, the automotive industry at the level of 29% or healthcare are holding up very well, where the labor market index is at the level of 25%. Healthcare is also the sector with the highest hiring plans, so those healthcare companies are counting on an increase of 140 units on average," added Rumiz. Employers will be affected this year by demographic shifts, technological progress, digitalization or the geopolitical situation. The most attention will be paid to the young generation Z, who are technically proficient and therefore expect a career move. The survey showed that half of the respondents from this generation want to leave their jobs within six months, so companies should try to retain them. Many of the millennial group aged 27 to 42 are gradually becoming managers, for whom companies should create some kind of mentoring programs. If employers do not do this, according to Rumiz, it is possible that workers will decide to leave and find a new job that offers them such a benefit. Equal remuneration for women and men will also be important this year. In the category from 25 to 34 years old, there are many more women with a university education than men, which creates a workforce that can be beneficial for employers. odkaz na stránku
