The European Commission approved EPH's exclusive control over Slovak power plants |
Brusel, 27.03.2025 |

The European Commission (EC) announced on Wednesday that it had approved the acquisition of sole control over Slovenské elektrárňáme (SE), a. s. from Slovakia by Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH), a. s. from the Czech Republic under the EU Merger Regulation. The EC report was reported by the Brussels-based TASR correspondent.
The Commission recalled that SE is currently jointly controlled by EPH and Enel Produzione SpA from Italy.
The EU executive, acting as an antitrust regulator, stressed that the approved transaction mainly concerns the generation and sale of electricity, gas distribution, as well as balancing and ancillary services.
The Commission authorised the acquisition of sole control over SE by EPH, a Czech businessman, Daniel Křetínský, only after it concluded that the transaction would not distort competition in the EU given its limited impact on the overall market structure.
The notified transaction was reviewed by the European Commission under the simplified merger review procedure.odkaz na stránku |
