Motivating primary and secondary school students to study technical subjects at secondary schools and universities and presenting young creators with their own ideas is the main goal of the 19th annual competition of autonomous robots Trenčín Robotic Day at the Trenčín Expo Center exhibition center. The competition is announced by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, and organized by the Secondary Vocational School (SOŠ) Pod Sokolicami in Trenčín. TASR was informed about this by the school's director Ľuboš Chochlík.
There will be a competition in three categories, all of which have subcategories for under 16 and over 16 years of age. In the first two categories (follower, DoIt!) children compete with robots on tracks, in the freestyle category competitors will demonstrate the functions of their own robots within a time limit.
According to the director, the competition is international in nature; in addition to Slovak students, students from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary also came to Trenčín to present their robots.
"On Thursday (April 3rd), we had competitors from 51 schools registered, compared to 27 last year. While 91 robots competed last year, there are 182 this year," Chochlík emphasized the record participation in the event.
