A new backup heat source was put into operation in Trnava
Trnava, 10.04.2025
A new backup heat source has been put into operation in Trnava. The main goal is to ensure safety and reliable heat supply for the residents of Trnava in the event of an unplanned shutdown of the Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plant, which is the main heat source. This was announced on Wednesday by the production manager of MH Teplárenský holding, Trnava plant, Peter Štetka. According to him, this is a medium-sized source. "The total thermal input of these three boilers is 50 megawatts," he explained. The construction of the backup source was also started because the original steam boilers did not meet the required emission limits, and their service life had also ended.Preparation for construction began in the second half of 2022, and construction itself began in early 2023 and lasted 12 months. "In October 2024, the final approval took place, and now this source is fully prepared to supply heat in the event of a malfunction or some kind of shutdown of the nuclear power plant," Štetka summarized.odkaz na stránku
