Inflation growth in Italy remained stable in April
Roma, 15.05.2025
Year-on-year inflation in Italy remained stable in April. This was shown on Friday by revised data from the statistical office ISTAT, which represents a downward revision of the preliminary estimate. TASR reports this based on a report by the RTTNews portal. According to the latest ISTAT data, the consumer price index (CPI) in the eurozone's third largest economy increased by 1.9% year-on-year in April, the same as in March. The preliminary estimate indicated that its growth would accelerate slightly to 2%. However, despite the revision, the inflation rate remained at its highest level in 18 months. The statistics also showed that the growth of prices for regulated energy (to 31.7% from 27.2%), unprocessed, fresh food (to 4.2% from 3.3%) and processed food (to 2.2% from 1.9%) accelerated in April. Only non-regulated energy prices fell (-3.4% after rising by 0.7% in March). Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, picked up in April, rising to 2.1% from 1.7% in the previous month. It reached its highest level in a year. In a month-on-month comparison, consumer prices in Italy rose by 0.1% in April, instead of the 0.2% in the preliminary estimate. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which is determined according to a uniform methodology across the European Union, rose by 2% in Italy in April year-on-year, which was less than the 2.1% in the flash estimate. In month-on-month terms, the HICP growth in April was also revised downwards to 0.4% from 0.5%. odkaz na stránku
