| The President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, welcomes Poland's offer to potentially serve as an alternative source of gas imports to Slovakia in the future. The Polish head of state, Karol Nawrocki, suggested that Poland could become a hub for gas supplies from the USA. Both presidents stated this at a joint press conference at the Presidential Palace during Nawrocki's official visit to Slovakia. The partners agreed on their stance regarding migration, rejecting quotas and expressing confidence that they will also convince leaders from Hungary and the Czech Republic. Pellegrini also believes that Poland could be a future guarantor of Slovakia's security as part of our NATO membership. They also consider the completion of road infrastructure between the countries to be important. Nawrocki also praised Slovakia's assistance to Ukraine. According to him, he does not know where the opinion comes from that Slovakia has a different stance on supporting Ukraine than Poland.
"I welcome the offer of the president and the activities of the Polish government, which will allow Poland, through the interconnection of our gas systems, to represent a significant alternative for gas imports in the future."Poland represented a significant alternative for gas imports to Slovakia. Of course, if it comes at a reasonable price and reasonable transit fees. But for us, it is a unique opportunity to try to further diversify energy imports,” stated Pellegrini. According to Nawrocki, he offered that Poland could soon become a real hub for gas supplies from the USA. He reminded that Poland has its terminal and another so-called floating terminal, which is expected to be completed shortly. “The countries of Central and Eastern Europe face a huge task, in which we must be united to become independent regarding dependence on Russian gas,” he noted, pointing out that in Poland they have “zero Russian gas.”According to Pellegrini, Slovakia is ready to significantly cooperate with the Polish arms industry in arming our army, just as Poland today uses the capacities of our industry in ammunition production. For example, Slovakia is interested in the Korean K-2 tanks, which the Poles will produce in a modified version on their own territory.According to Pellegrini, Slovakia and Poland share the same stance on the war in Ukraine, seeing it as Russian aggression. Nawrocki emphasized that he does not trust Russia. He added that no one doubts Poland's aid to Ukraine. At the same time, he also welcomes Slovakia's assistance. "When I looked at the statistical data showing how Slovakia helps Ukraine, I don't see where the idea comes from that Slovakia has a different opinion than Poland regarding aid to Ukraine. This is real help reflected in statistics, for example, in energy or in the military and security sector," he stated. Pellegrini thanked him for not taking the path of criticizing Slovakia, but for studying the data on Slovakia's aid to Ukraine. The partners agreed on the need to expand road infrastructure. Nawrocki appreciated that the R4 road, known as Via Carpatia, should be completed in the coming years. He considers this to be good news for both Polish and Slovak entrepreneurs. Pellegrini also informed him that the last three sections of public procurement for the D3 motorway have been completed."Slovakia welcomes Poland's decision to move forward with nuclear power generation. Slovakia has extensive expertise and many years of experience in operating nuclear power plants," stated the President of Slovakia, adding that it offers Slovak expertise in nuclear energy, as Poland plans to build its first nuclear power plant.Nawrocki's trip to Slovakia is his first official visit as president within the V4 region. On Wednesday, his schedule includes a meeting with the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Richard Raši (Hlas-SD), and Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD).odkaz na stránku |
