Heineken brewery in Velké Březno will not close, but plans to brew less beer
Prag, 26.03.2026
The multinational brewing concern Heineken will reduce the volume of beer brewed in Velké Březno in the Ústí nad Labem region, and will not lay off workers because of this. This was told to ČTK by the company's spokesperson Dita Jacobson. The company will temporarily stop offering excursions in the historic brewery, she reported on the website. The Dutch company announced in February that it would cut 5,000 to 6,000 jobs in the next two years due to a decline in demand for alcohol, most of them outside the Netherlands. The Heineken Czech Republic division has long been the third largest in the Czech market after Plzeňský Prazdroj and Pivovary Staropramen. It owns the Starobrno, Královský pivovar Krušovice and Velké Březno breweries, where it employs over 450 In the Ústí nad Labem region, unverified information has recently emerged about the possible closure of the brewery in Velký Březn, which is home to the Březňák brand with the face of the railwayman Victor Cibich on the label. “The brewery in Velký Březn is not closing. As part of the constant optimization of our production, the production scale is only temporarily adjusted,” said Jacobson. According to her, Heineken does not publish the exhibition of individual breweries. “The volumes brewed in Velký Březn will be partially reduced in 2026, our packaging and distribution activities will remain largely the same,” said the spokeswoman. people.odkaz na stránku
