FS: QR payments work without problems, there were already 15,000 transactions in May
Bratislava, 12.05.2026
The first week since the introduction of the new legal obligation to allow customers to make cashless payments has confirmed that QR payments are working without problems and that both entrepreneurs and customers have become accustomed to the new payment method. Since the beginning of May, more than 8,200 entrepreneurs and businesses have already applied to set up a notification account. Almost 15,000 payments worth approximately 425,000 euros were made via QR payments during this period, Daniel Kováč, a spokesman for the Financial Administration (FS), reported on Monday. He reminded that from May 1, sellers who are obliged to record sales in cash registers are obliged to allow customers at least one form of cashless payment. One option is QR payments using the Payme 2.0 standard, which enables immediate and secure transfers via QR code directly in the mobile banking application. "It turns out that QR payments represent a simple, safe and financially affordable solution for both entrepreneurs and customers. We also positively perceive the growing interest of establishments in using the QR payment system," assessed the President of FS Jozef Kiss. According to information, more than 8,200 entrepreneurs and establishments that accept QR payments through the financial management system Notifier of Immediate Payments (NOP) have requested from banks to set up a notification account. The notification account service is currently provided by Tatra banka, Slovenská sporiteľňa, ČSOB, VÚB, Prima banka and the State Treasury. The QR code reading service is supported by Tatra banka, Slovenská sporiteľňa, ČSOB, VÚB, Prima banka, 365.bank and Poštová banka. Fio banka also plans to launch support for QR payments in May, the financial management announced. "QR payments are also safe and, from a data protection perspective, comparable to card payments. If the seller uses a dynamic QR code generated directly by the cash register, the entire payment takes place in the secure environment of the buyer's banking application. The buyer does not provide the merchant with sensitive data, such as a payment card number, and the payment is immediately confirmed and credited to the seller's account," added Kováč. odkaz na stránku
