| V4 countries will focus on competitiveness and energy prices |

| The short coordination meeting of the prime ministers of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries at the start of the June EU summit in Brussels was short but substantive and focused on issues of competitiveness and energy. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said this after the meeting, TASR's correspondent reports.
In a video message recorded just after the V4 leaders' meeting, Fico specified that the debates lasted only a few minutes, but were "extremely important" and confirmed that there is an "eminent interest in reviving this format to the maximum extent possible".
"We agreed that the meeting in Budapest will also be as substantive as possible. And it is good that we have already said today what our common priorities are. It is primarily a question of competitiveness and high energy prices. We have the same opinion here, so we will act together," the prime minister said. He also expressed hope that if the V4 continues like this, the prime ministers "did a good job" in Brussels on Thursday.
After meeting with the prime ministers of neighboring countries, Fico had agreed to hold talks with the leaders of EU member states united in the so-called Friends of Cohesion Group, which strives for the same goal, namely that sufficient funds be allocated for cohesion policy and also for the common agricultural policy in the future long-term EU budget for 2028-2034.
