One of the oldest German breweries filed for bankruptcy
Berlín, 24.06.2026
One of the oldest breweries in Germany, Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH from the city of Braunschweig in the state of Lower Saxony, filed for bankruptcy, Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday. TASR informs about it based on the report of the TASS agency. The main causes of the bankruptcy were the overall decrease in demand for beer and the increase in production costs related, among other things, to the increase in the price of electricity. In 2025, beer consumption in Germany will decrease by 5.8% compared to the previous year, while sales volume will decrease by a record 6% to around 7.8 billion liters. The company Hofbrauhaus Wolters has almost 400 years of history, its roots go back to 1627. According to data from the German Brewers Association (Deutscher Brauer-Bund, DBB), 137 breweries have closed in Germany over the past six years.odkaz na stránku
