| The state launches the modernization of 8 regional lines for 220 million euros |

| The state is launching the reconstruction of eight regional lines financed from the Recovery Plan worth 220 million euros. This was announced at a press conference on Wednesday by the Minister of Transport of the Slovak Republic, Jozef Ráž (nominated by Smer-SD) and the General Director of the Slovak Railways (ŽSR) Ivan Bednárik.
"Today we are launching the reconstruction of eight lines that will be across the whole of Slovakia. Together, these reconstructions will cost 220 million euros and are fully financed from the Recovery Plan," the Minister of Transport specified.
According to Ráž, this money was prepared for the reconstruction of the so-called superstructures, but it will also be used to change voltage cables, reconstruct bridges, and reconstruct platforms. "These are therefore very important resources that railway lines in Slovakia, in the regions, really need," Ráž underlined.
"If we want to gradually get people on public transport, we need it to be reliable, to run on time, to run quickly and to have the highest possible level of comfort. This is another step in this direction. I believe that we will be able to continue to reconstruct," emphasized the Minister of Transport.
According to Bednárik, the money from the Recovery Plan is only one part of the resources from which the railway infrastructure is financed. "The total investment from the Recovery Plan is 518 to 527 million euros, it is 12 projects. We are talking about eight because they are currently on the table and the procurement will be completed or started. We have a deadline of June 30, 2026," added Bednárik.
"In addition, we have invested large amounts of funds from other operational programs, namely the so-called Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), where we have invested 500 million euros to date and are aiming to draw 1.6 billion euros," added the General Director of ŽSR.
