A higher salary is still the main motivation for changing jobs.
Bratislava, 15.09.2025
An increase in salary for employees is the main motivation for changing jobs; however, a ten percent raise is currently not enough. Almost two-thirds would leave their job if offered a position with a salary increase of 20% to 30%. On the other hand, six percent would never consider leaving for financial reasons. This is according to the latest JobsIndex survey conducted by Alma Career Slovakia, which surveyed 1,009 employees in Slovakia."Most employees consider better financial remuneration as a decisive factor when evaluating new job offers. At a time when unemployment is low and the job market remains tight, these numbers signal employers to pay attention to their wage policies and the overall benefits package," the company stated. The survey revealed that almost a third of people are ready to leave their current job for a better offer. 24% of employees are open to new opportunities. 16% of workers would consider changing jobs even if the new job offer were comparable to their current one. However, overall, only 15% of respondents know what they would do if they left their current employment. The results confirm that salary remains the biggest motivation for employees when deciding to change jobs. At the same time, we see that some people are willing to consider offers that do not financially surpass their current employment, which may be related to working conditions or career growth. The data thus shows that employers should take into account not only competitive wage conditions but also other factors that can motivate leaving or, conversely, long-term loyalty," the company added. The most prepared to change their jobs are young people aged 18 to 24, of whom 41% would leave if they received a better offer. The least willingness to leave a job is among workers with more experience and older age groups. According to the company, individuals working in basic manual positions without higher qualifications are also above average open to changes. There is a significantly lower tendency to change jobs among employees in education and healthcare.odkaz na stránku
