| The deadline for exchanging Bulgarian banknotes is approaching |
| Bratislava, 25.02.2026 |
 |
| Bulgarian lev banknotes will be exchangeable in person at the central treasury of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) headquarters in Bratislava or at its branch in Košice until March 2, 2026. The bank warned of the approaching deadline on Tuesday.
“After this deadline, Bulgarian lev banknotes and coins will be exchangeable free of charge and without time limit at the Bulgarian Central Bank,” the NBS stated.
Bulgaria joined the eurozone on January 1 of this year and thus began using the common currency, the euro. The conversion rate was set at 1.95583 leva per euro.
“Exchange is free of charge for the public and is carried out only in cash. The maximum exchange limit was set at 2,000 leva per person/transaction per day,” the NBS explained. Exchange is possible at the central bank only upon presentation of banknotes eligible for exchange and upon presentation of originals or officially certified copies of identification documents.odkaz na stránku |
