5 companies have requested the cancellation of investment aid since the beginning of the year
Bratislava, 27.05.2026
Five companies have applied for the cancellation of investment aid in the form of income tax relief since the beginning of 2026. This follows from decisions published on the website of the Ministry of Economy (MOE) of the Slovak Republic. Two of these companies, including Samsung Electronics Slovakia, had to repay the tax relief applied so far to the state, while the remaining three companies requested its withdrawal before the start of drawing it. Samsung Electronics Slovakia applied for the cancellation of the approved aid in April, which follows its February announcement of the termination of the operation of the television production plant in Galanta. The manufacturer originally planned to invest 36 million euros and create 140 jobs, for which the government approved a tax relief of 9 million euros in August 2022. Between 2022 and 2024, the company applied for a relief of 1.8 million euros annually. However, at the end of March 2026, it filed additional tax returns in which it removed these reliefs and paid the tax. The company Pankl Automotive Slovakia from Topoľčany also acted similarly. The company's government approved investment aid in the form of an income tax relief of 1.55 million euros in 2018. At that time, the company planned to invest 12.07 million euros in establishing a center for the production of gearbox and engine covers and creating 120 new jobs by the end of 2021. In April of this year, it requested the cancellation of the decision, while paying back the tax relief it had applied for in 2018 and 2019, totaling almost half a million euros. The other three companies requested the cancellation of the decisions before they could use the approved tax relief. In April, LVD S3 did so, and in March 2023, the government approved aid of almost 870,000 euros to expand the capacity of its facility focused on the production of laser cutting machines in Tornal. The company planned to invest 2.17 million euros and create ten new jobs. Back in February, the Korean company Wia Slovakia, which planned to establish a plant for the production of drive shafts for electric vehicles and a technology center in Dolny Hričov near Žilina, requested the cancellation of investment aid. In May 2024, the government approved investment aid of 6.36 million euros in the form of income tax relief for this plan. The investment was supposed to bring 231 new jobs by 2029. In February, Intermodal Technologies also requested the cancellation of income tax relief of 500,000 euros. According to the original plan, it planned to spend investment costs in the minimum value of approximately 34.78 million euros and create 270 jobs. However, the company has suspended the implementation of this project, aimed at the production of containers for intermodal transport in Upper Nitra, for the time being. This was confirmed to TASR in April by Rastislav Januščák, a representative of Hornonitrianske baní Prievidza, which is part of the joint venture. He cited unfavorable developments in the freight rail transport market as the reason, adding that if the market situation changes, they will reassess the intention. odkaz na stránku
