| Slovakia is above average in mathematical literacy in PISA 2025 testing |

| The results of 15-year-old Slovak students in the international PISA 2025 testing are below the average of OECD countries in reading and science literacy. In mathematical literacy, students' performance ranked among countries above the average of OECD countries. The findings are presented on Tuesday in Bratislava, Slovakia. This is the first regional presentation of PISA results for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The Minister of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, Tomáš Drucker (Hlas-SD), sees reasons for cautious optimism in the results. According to him, the findings are linked to the implemented reforms in the Slovak education system. At the same time, however, he pointed out the room for further improvement. "Based on previous results, but also these results, we will discuss different opinions, approaches and we will also share a better understanding of what and how to act in the future," he said.
The Slovak Republic participated in the PISA study for the first time in 2003. In 2025, it completed the eighth cycle of measurement, which is carried out at three-year intervals. Last year, 300 schools and 6,684 15-year-old students participated in Slovakia. The main area tested was scientific literacy, but reading and mathematical literacy were also assessed. Slovak students also participated in a new area of assessment focused on learning in the digital world.
