The number of corporate bankruptcies in Germany has risen to a 13-year high.
Wiesbaden, 09.10.2026
The number of corporate bankruptcies in Germany rose to a 13-year high in July. Courts across the country recorded 2,373 insolvency filings, an 8% increase compared to the same month last year. TASR reports this based on information from the DPA news agency, citing data released on Friday by the German Federal Statistical Office. The number of bankruptcies was last higher in July 2013, when authorities recorded 2,459 cases. Creditors' claims in the latest insolvency cases totaled €21.9 billion, down from €31.8 billion in the same month of the previous year. This suggests that the insolvencies primarily affected smaller businesses. In the first seven months of the year through the end of July, 43 out of every 10,000 businesses became insolvent. The highest rate was recorded in the transportation and warehousing sector (86 cases per 10,000 firms), followed by accommodation and food services (70 cases) and construction (63 cases). odkaz na stránku
