TASS: Slovak government delegation has arrived in Moscow
Moscow, 26.10.2026
Slovak delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, has arrived in Moscow for a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. This was reported on Sunday evening by the TASS news agency, as noted by TASR. According to the report, the delegation was welcomed by Konstantin Mogilevsky, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education. On Monday, the Slovak delegation will participate in the 22nd session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and the Russian Federation. The commission’s co-chairs—the Slovak Foreign Minister and the Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov—will open expert-level discussions across six key areas. The objective is to establish a framework for cooperation—consistent with the Slovak Republic’s EU membership obligations—in areas of mutual interest, specifically energy, nuclear energy, agriculture, environmental protection, tourism and sports, and culture. This was announced on Saturday by the Communications Department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. "We reject the construction of a new Iron Curtain between the EU and Russia, and we consider it of utmost importance—even during this challenging period—to maintain open lines of communication; the meeting of the intergovernmental commission serves this very purpose. We view this format as a vital instrument for dialogue, which is essential for the national interests of the Slovak Republic," stated Blanár, who is also set to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. According to the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the delegation accompanying the head of Slovak diplomacy will include Vladimír Šimoňák, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy; expert representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, economy, environment, agriculture and rural development, culture, and tourism and sport; as well as representatives from the Slovak Gas Industry (SPP), the state-owned joint-stock company JAVYS, the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Slovak-Russian Business Council.
