| Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár held negotiations with Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Pribadi Sutiono, at the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry on Thursday, 24 October 2024. The meeting, which was held only a few days following the inauguration of the new President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and the presentation of the Indonesian Government, was held with the objective of following up on existing Slovak-Indonesian cooperation with an emphasis on intensifying the economic sphere.Mutual trade reached EUR 167 million last year. In regards to this, Slovakia’s chief diplomat also told the Indonesian Ambassador about the expansion of Slovakia’s foreign offices network as well as the number of economic diplomats in Southeast Asia – in Manila, the Philippines, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
There is great potential for the development of the partnership between the Slovak Republic and Indonesia in the defense industry, which is supported by the inter-ministerial agreement that was concluded between the two states. Interest has also been shown, for instance, in breeding the tropical wheat variety, which has been officially registered within the initiative of universities in Slovakia and Indonesia together with the OSIVO Zvolen company.
Minister J. Blanár talked with Ambassador P. Sutiono about paying a bilateral visit to Indonesia with the hopes of, among other things, signing an agreement on a visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports. On the other hand, the new Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono should also be making a trip to Slovakia.25.10.2024 MZV |
