Flash News:
On Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, inaugurated the honorary consulate in the capital of Liechtenstein, Vaduz. The opening took place with the participation of the new honorary consul Matúš Gémes and the representative of the Liechtenstein Ministry of Foreign Affairs Martin Frick, TASR reports. The Honorary Consulate in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, will provide consular services to Slovaks operating on its territory. "At the same time, however, our intention is for him to support our economic diplomacy," Blanár said. "I firmly believe that this will be a contribution to our economic diplomacy, despite the fact that we are opening a consulate in a small country, and that it will contribute to the arrival of further Liechtenstein investments in Slovakia, which will support our economic growth," said the head of Slovak diplomacy. The representative of the Liechtenstein ministry expressed hope that the Slovak consul will be an important mediator between the governments of both countries. According to him, Slovakia is becoming an increasingly important economic partner. He reminded that Liechtenstein companies employ 700 people in Slovakia. He also highlighted the deepening relations at the government level. On the occasion of the opening of the consulate, a ceremonial reception was also held with the participation of Slovaks living in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. TASR reminds that Slovakia established diplomatic relations with Liechtenstein only in 2009, and Fabian Frick represented Slovakia in the country as honorary consul until 2022.
