Slovakia offers a location for peace negotiations.
“The nearly three-year military conflict in Ukraine attests to what we have been saying since the beginning and proves us right, that this conflict has no military solution.
Slovakia has consistently promoted peaceful solutions and we support any peace initiatives. Therefore, this year, I also attended the peace summit in Switzerland, where all the participants agreed on what is promoted by our Government, that further peace negotiations must take place with the participation of all parties, including Russia.
The preparation of the second summit will be carried out on various levels and we have already declared publicly several times that we offer Slovakia as the host for such negotiations. In this regard, we perceive the statement made by the Russian President, who admitted that part of the peace negotiations could be held in Slovakia, as a positive signal towards ending this war, bloodshed and destruction as soon as possible. This also just attests to the importance of the recent negotiations by Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico in Moscow.
Slovak diplomacy is ready to actively contribute to the peace process in this way and we have already communicated this option to our Ukrainian partners as well at our joint session of the Slovak and Ukrainian Governments in Uzhhorod at the beginning of October 2024.”
– Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Juraj Blanár.
