| On 1 January 2025, through the Slovak Representative Office in Baku, the Slovak Republic became the contact point embassy for the North Atlantic Alliance in Azerbaijan. The two-year mandate will NATO Contact Point Embassies (CPE) are a network of allied representative offices that help the Alliance in the field of public diplomacy and practical cooperation in partner countries. Their role is above all to communicate with the professional and general public, with a focus on the Alliance’s policies, as well as to provide logistical support for military exercises and official visits.
By fulfilling the role of the contact point embassy in Azerbaijan, Slovakia will continue from the period 2021 – 2024, when this position was repeatedly held by the Slovak Embassy in Israel. The Slovak Republic also fulfilled such a mandate in the past in Ukraine (2007 – 2010), Serbia (2013 – 2016) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (2017 – 2018).be carried out jointly with Sweden.Updated 10.01.2025 MZV |
