Algeria opened an embassy in Bratislava. Algeria opened an embassy in Bratislava. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MZVEZ) of the Slovak Republic, Marek Eštok, received on Tuesday (4 November) the first ambassador of the newly established Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Bratislava since the independence of the Slovak Republic, Habiba Derradji Kherrourou. TASR was informed about this by the communications department of the MZVEZ. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Slovak-Algerian cooperation is historically moving to a new qualitative level, with a significant pillar being the mutual opening of embassies in both countries. The Slovak Republic re-established its diplomatic mission in Algiers after two decades, and Algeria, in turn, moved its diplomatic representation for Slovakia from Vienna to Bratislava. The partners expressed the belief that further strengthening of the dialogue would be achieved through planned bilateral visits of government officials. Later this year, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf is expected to visit Slovakia. "Algeria is a strategic partner in North Africa, where it plays an important role in energy and security. Our goal is also to provide a new impetus for the development of economic cooperation, especially in trade, investment, and industrial projects," explained the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He identified the energy sector, defense and pharmaceutical industries, water management, modern technologies, and research as promising areas.odkaz na stránku
