| The Slovak Republic has opened a new Representative Office of the Slovak Republic in the United Republic of Tanzania with accreditation for the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Gabon, the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Malawi, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the Republic of Zambia. It is headed by long-time career diplomat Ivan Lančarič, who previously served as the Slovak Ambassador to India and Kuwait and also represented Slovakia in the United Kingdom, Croatia and Georgia. During the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2016, he held the position of Director General of Foreign Trade Policy and European Affairs at the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
He also emphasized the importance of a more extensive Slovak representation on the African continent in the context of the Slovak Republic's active multilateral engagement, focusing on gaining support for its candidacy for a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2028-2029.
