| Norway will open its first honorary consulate in Slovakia. It will be located on Hrachová Street in Bratislava and its consular district will cover the entire territory of the Slovak Republic. The honorary consul will be Zuzana Bukvišová, a lawyer and businesswoman. TASR was informed about this by Tomáš Marcinko from the Norwegian Embassy in Vienna, adding that the opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, March 25, with the participation of representatives of the Norwegian Embassy and Slovak partners.
“I perceive the function of honorary consul of the Kingdom of Norway in the Slovak Republic as a great honor, but also as an obligation and a challenge. My ambition is to connect people and institutions, maintain existing ties between Norway and Slovakia, and at the same time actively seek new opportunities for cooperation. I want to focus not only on supporting business relations, but also on areas that are particularly close to me, such as culture and art,” said Bukvišová.
According to Marcinek, the establishment of the honorary consulate represents a significant step in the development of bilateral relations between Norway and the Slovak Republic. According to him, the new consulate will contribute to strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade, culture and mutual contacts between the two countries. As he reminded, an important pillar of cooperation are also grants from the European Economic Area and Norway, which represent a strategic partnership aimed at supporting green transformation, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, social inclusion and resilience.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Austria and Slovakia, Susan Eckey, is convinced that the work of the new consul will contribute to the further development of our bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between our countries.
